Jackie Robinson!
Every year, Major League Baseball sets aside one day in April to honor Jackie Robinson, the first Black baseball player to break the color barrier in 1949. He was an important part of the Civil Rights Movement, and I recently found this article on 538.com about how more modern statistical analysis proves that Robinson was one of the greatest second basemen of all time. I also have a man crush on the founder of 538.com, Nate Silver, who uses statistical analysis to predict political trends, elections, and he loves baseball!
